Cut it into roughly the size I figured it should have
so I put it to dry in a large bowl so it would shape nicely
The day before I made all the feathers, so they were not too soft to work with. They can probably be made the same day, but it takes just a little more time than, what you think.
I adapt the plate with a sharp pair of scissors and started sticking feathers on from below.
I glued one row at the time and let it dry for a bit.
